This is the kind of weather that makes you risk virii by downloading Cole Porter lyrics.

"I'd like to coo with my baby tonight and pitch some woo with my baby tonight but sister you fight my baby tonight cause it's too darn hot."

I got much better sleep last night than the night before last (when, if you recall, I was so messed up by the heat that I thought the sprinkler across the street was a rattlesnake or a malfunctioning steam heater), and I think that was a combination of having spent the day at work in air-conditioning, rinsing my feet in cold water as soon as I got home, and taking a Tylenol PM. This morning I packaged the rice and put it in the fridge so I could unplug the rice cooker and end it's tiny contribution to global warming, and had coke-and-milk instead of my usual hot tea for the same reason - for goodness sake let's not allow any more heating to take place! Also, my computer has been randomly falling to sleep and not coming back, and I attribute it to overheating. :P

Eor wants me to go shopping for canning supplies because the blackberries are bearing like mad. Let me tell you, I do not want to be the one standing over the hot stove making preserves! Still, I'll like having them in the winter, if it works.

That's early! There won't be blackberries here for at least another two months! Oh yeah, does your train line still work? If so beware. I remember picking some extremely mutant looking blackberries from the sides of traintracks when I was young and can only assume it was something to do with the fumes! They don't seem to have done me much harm of course...

Our train only comes by at best once a week, and it's hauling freight so we don't have the sewage which I've heard is dumped right on the ground (???) in the UK. :)

Bleh, yes, this is true and in Ireland too. It was a cement train that went by where I used to get blackberries so we always assumed it was diesel fumes that made the mutant berries. Maybe it was cement dust! Or something that skinhead gluesniffers did to them!
