I've seen no reason to try to break the habit until this year, and I will still argue that it's not right for stores to force employees to say "Happy Holidays" and NOT "Merry Christmas" because people just don't get why they're being asked that. It's not this innocuous phrase that's the problem, it's that in a person's own life they may be getting pressures like this.
