littleredhead and groundctrl! We are full of wonderful Indian food and ice-cream, but we can never have our fill of the fascinating and fun conversation! ;)
We also have piles of new books!groundctrl brought us three, and then of course what you do between leaving an Indian restaurant and going for ice-cream is to spend some time at a bookstore while you digest. ;) (Doesn't everyone?) I don't have the whole stack here with me to list them out, but I suppose they will all get listed soon, as they are read.

Completely unrelatedly, I have decided that the woman who owns Cunningham Books is an angel. She provides clean books at, generally, a reasonable price -eor just noted how very reasonable when he looked up one of the books he got at her place in quite good condition and the best he could find it for online sounded as though it was probably a little beat up but was maybe only a dollar less - and yet somehow stays in business in a town where floor space is at an incredible premium. She must own the building and live above her shop, and rent out other apartments, but even so with taxes what they are she must lose money. She's this world's Aziraphale, it's the only explanation.
(*sings* "I found out she's an angel, I don't think she knows I know. I'm worried that something might happen to me if anyone ever finds out.")
