I thought Captain Wentworth might be the Austen one from Persuasion, but giant flying cockroaches doesn't sound his style at all. Hmm.
I'd bet more on him being from some wacked pulp/sci-fi-ish/adventure series (could be movies, books or comics), as that seems more PJF. Chances are PJF messed around with his name, he likes to do that. He gives Tarzan's English name as Lord Greyminster, when I'm pretty sure it was Greystoke, wasn't it? ("Boy"'s name is given as Lord Drummond, I have no idea how accurate that is. Tarzan and Boy don't actually enter into it much. Mowglie, however, plays a major part, and it's pretty funny when he showes up, naked but for a belt with a knife hanging off it, and Watson goes into raptures describing his physical attractions, noting that "he had the biggest [word obliterated by an blot] I had ever seen, and being a medical man I've seen some real startlers.")
And yes, my only regret with reading Post Captain now is that I'm so far behind everyone else in my universe, as you are all done with that fandom. Particularly you yourself. Sadness. :(
