The Not So Controversial Survey

1. Do you have the guts to answer these questions and re-post as The Controversial Survey?

It's a silly survey, so sure.

2. Would you do meth if it was legal?

I don't see the attraction in losing more brain cells, I need all the ones I have.

3. Abortion: for or against it?

I'm for people having the CHOICE to have an abortion, because choice of what to do with our own bodies should be considered a basic human right, and a couple of divided cells is not a person and does not have rights above those of the woman. Besides, if you believe in a God you could always assume that if God wanted that child to be born he would inspire the mother not to make that choice. If the doesn't than he's good with it. More babies abort spontaneously than come to term, so God is the biggest abortionist.

4. Do you think the world would fail with a female president?

Oh, the world would FAIL! *hand-staple-forehead!* No.

5. Do you believe in the death penalty?

Tough question. Obviously in a perfect world people should not be on death row if they're not guilty, but this is far from a perfect world. I'm sure innocent people are executed, and that doesn't make me happy. Also, if there's a chance they could be rehabilitated and there could be no further loss of life, or if they could be useful to society while remaining incarcerated (say, pedophiles who know that they've done wrong and preach against it, even if they are afraid they might do it again.) I would rather that we could take the resources to support them. However, I do think elderly people and people who are unable to care for themselves should be getting at least as much care and money spent on them as people in prison!

6. Do you wish marijuana would be legalized already?

Yes, all victimless crimes should be decriminalized, get those people out of prison and off the tax dollars. That would free up more resource to take care of people we should be taking care of. If people had a chance at a somewhat less degrading and depressing life they might not be doing drugs in the first place.

7. Are you for or against premarital sex?

Choice of the individual, again.

8. Do you believe in God?

I reserve the right to wait until I die to decide. (Agnostic)

9. Do you think same sex marriage should be legalized?

Yes, as things currently stand, but I think marriage as a legal contract involving sex and with the State as enforcer should be abolished for all people. There should be other ways to set up property rights and who's going to take care of your children, etc.

10. Do you think it's wrong that so many Hispanics are illegally moving to the USA?

They wouldn't be if A) there weren't such weird quotas about only wanting Europeans moving here, and B) Rich, white people didn't want cheap labor to mow their lawns.

11. A twelve year old girl has a baby, should she keep it?

For most twelve year olds it would be seriously endangering to their life to try to birth a baby, and the baby is likely to have problems as well (be sickly or not mentally capable) so a doctor should be consulted and listened to before making that decision. And honestly, I think she and her mother should be having some sort of psych evaluation if they're considering it, just to see if they'll give it a good home, because this kid should not have been in that mess in the first place. But yes, given that they seem otherwise mentally and physically healthy, the grandmother and mother should be able to make that choice.

12. Should the alcohol age be lowered to eighteen?

We should be a little more in line with the rest of the world on that, but I do think responsible drinking needs to be emphasized.

13. Should the war in Iraq be called off?

Yes.

14. Assisted suicide is illegal: do you agree?

It should be legal. Again, choice of the individual adult what to do with their own body.

15. Do you believe in spanking your children?

Sometimes a quick swat on the butt for little kids is the best way, but mostly my parents kept me in line without having to hit me, so other methods should be considered first.

16. Would you burn an American flag for a million dollars?

Burning is the proper and appropriate way to dispose of a damaged flag. Honestly I can't see revering a piece of cloth - It seems to me that if you have to use a symbol to represent your feelings toward an intangible it looks a little too much like putting on a show for other people. Of course, burning an undamaged flag in public without the proper ceremonies is also using it as a symbol, calculated to upset people - I would prefer not to be seen doing such a thing because I want nothing to do with symbols. ;) Give me the million to do it in private with no cameras and I'd do it in a heartbeat, because with a closed group of people in attendance it's only a piece of cloth.

17. Who do you think would make a better president?

Obama.

18. Are you afraid others will judge you from reading some of your answers?

No. I try to say things clearly and as I believe in them, and anyone is free to have their own opinion. If they judge me they're not someone who's opinion I care about.
