So Dreamwidth stopped imports for a while so as to minimize the load on LiveJournal, but now it seems they're back up with it, having figured out a patch that makes it work okay, as told here:

Now can someone tell me what an 'import' is? It sounds like I can copy my LJ stuff over to my DW? If so... how??

The importer is a magical copy-machine on the internet! Head over to the import page for basic set-up. I felt like the tool walked me through the process well, but that may not be true for everyone.

It also gives you options like default security settings and what you want (icons, journal entries, tags, profile data) so you can choose to just import your icons if you'd like or you can get the whole shebang!

You can! It'll upload all the entries you have on LJ to DW, with copies of the comments, too, if you choose. I think you can also upload the info on your profile page.

When you're logged in, go to your home page, and on the drop-down menu look at "Organize." One of the choices should be "Import Content." Click on that, and then follow the instructions.

Depending on how busy DW is, you may have to wait a few hours for it to process and upload all your entries. But that's "do this, and then go do whatever you want for however long" waiting, not "do this, and then don't navigate away from the page and pray that your internet connection doesn't go down" kind of waiting. It's pretty easy, overall.
