Almost done with "Fortune of War" and had to look up the historical battle between the Chesapeake and the Shannon because there are so few pages left and I was feeling too tense about the end because so much has happened to Jack and Stephen, already! Darn it, I started to say what had happened and then realized I don't recall at the moment how to do a cut on Dreamwidth, and I don't have time to look it up as Eor is outside working in the garden and expecting me to do the recycling and run to Brunswick for a package.

We've already been out working, and had to come in to feed us as we were both getting cranky. Now I've had eggs, pancakes and tea and am feeling almost human. A shower would top it off, but it will have to wait.

Finished "Fortune of War" - omg, good ending, but he left one cliffhangery thread, so I need to get the next book as soon as possible! Cripes. The library doesn't open until the exact time I have to be in the optometrists office. And tomorrow it doesn't open until I have to be at work, so Thursday is the first day I can get the next book. They'd better have it. Father D. was right, my soul now belongs to Patrick O'Brian.

BTW, did I mention these new glasses are not working out for shit? I bought a $400 headache. I'm pissed, and if they try to charge me again for the appointment today, which is supposed to be to sort out the mess they made last time, I might throw a hissy and tell them to take their glasses and shove them up someplace that rhymes. I'd better go find my five-year-old glasses and see if I can make do with them, because I didn't get a backup pair made last time and this time I had them replace my lenses and they threw the old ones away. Which seems pretty short-sighted when you're giving someone bifocals for the first time and you don't know if they'll be able to get used to them.

Our finances are looking pretty bad what with one thing an another. I keep saying I'll look up some overtime at work, but for some reason I'm always too slow - overtime requests are posted and the time I can do is filled right away, because everyone else on my shift can also do that time period, and there aren't many slots offered.

Speaking of which I'd better check my bank account and see if the check from Eor which I deposited yesterday has cleared yet so I can pay off my credit card bill. Two months in a row we've had to borrow from the savings (which is in his name) in order to get the credit card in my name payed off, not good. Even if a good deal of it is things we shared the benefit of, and necessary stuff, and unpredictable, I still feel as though it indicates I'm not managing things well.
