derien | ooh, new clothing, big deal.

Well, for me new clothing is a big deal - I usually dress myself from thrift stores. Aside from underwear. (All that stuff we bought in Cambridge weekend before last? Cut price store.) Because I drag my feet buying new clothes, they always phase out a style just about the time I decide I'll buy into it. But I know that low-rise jeans look better on me than long-waisted jeans (which always are just baggy around my ass) because they existed when I was in high school, so I finally decided to go use that Filene's gift card that Mainertoo gave me for Christmas year-before-last. I was out at the Mall anyway checking at Sears for a drill bit large enough for

eor's van-bumper project, and had no luck there, so I hoped I'd at least have something to show for my trip.

So I walk into Filene's with my ratty denim jacket and my flannel hanging out, and aggrivate the sales ladies. "Is it too much for me to hope that there might be a pair of low-rise jeans with a 36-inch waist?" I finally found some 16S ('S' for Short, I guess?) medium rise jeans that looked pretty good, but there was nothing with a shorter waist. Why? Because that fashion is being phased out, already. I guess I should go buy low-rise jeans like they're going out of style, because they are.

But now I have a fairly decent looking pair of jeans for under $5 out of my pocket, thanks to Mainertoo.:) I also saw a jeans jacket on sale, but it was a little too femmy looking for my taste.

My progress on today's goals...

I didn't get the outside of the car washed, but I did vacuum it, wash the insides of the windows and armorall the dashboard. It doesn't matter so much what it looks like on the outside.

I did not get the rent check delivered, either, so must do that tomorrow. I completely forgot until I noticed that the overstuffed chair which had been on the porch is now gone. Possibly they did actually listen to the message I left on the answering machine complaining that it did not look good, there. Yes, I'll walk around with my flannel hanging out, but I don't want easy chairs on the porch, that's just a little too ghetto.

Carmex lip balm in the tube tastes nasty. I think I'll go back to rubbing a candle on my lips.

Bacardi Razz, on the other hand, tastes pretty good, and kills other flavors.:)

Dishes are getting washed, now that I have dish detergent.

The roast went in at quarter to 10, so it should be done about 11:15(PM). There's probably enough for everyone - come on over. :) It's starting to smell good. I'd better get the potatoes on.

I guess after I get the potatoes on the only thing left for me to do will be to dig some pages out of my high school journal box and start typing.

I have had four votes on my poll regarding which plot I should write for NaNo - if you missed it, feel free to sound off, if you care. Not that I'm promising to do the plot that gets voted for most, but I might. And then again it might be a coincidence if I do - you'll never know for sure. And probably neither will I.:)

I need to go clothes shopping as well... *sigh* Gained two kilos, but it's all on the derrière and the waist, so I'll hate finding that I actually went up a size in the trouser department. But if I wait until sales start, all the nice clothes will be gone and I'll end up either buying nothing or buying stuff I don't really like all that much and which I won't wear in the end. Neither the possibilities are appealing.

Yeah, it's the dissappointments and annoyances of shopping that keep me away. Being faced with the fact that yes I do not have a model (sp? that word doesn't look right no matter how I spell it) body. Plus having no money. And now I wear a uniform most of every day, so I only need regular clothes for weekends.
