my curse word is 'bugger'...

According to the test, my curse word is 'bugger.' Only, I don't say that, ever. Firstly, and probably most importantly, because I do not have an English accent, and using accents which are not your own always sounds pretentious. Secondly, because it means 'fuck up the ass,' which I don't think sounds polite at all. This quiz must have been written by an American.

Your word is BUGGER. You are generally quite
restrained, but sometimes your anger or
frustration come to the surface and it all
comes out. Yet you somehow can't stop sounding
polite, despite it all.

I would like to add, completely irrelevantly, that I'm apparently addicted to "A Bit of Fry and Laurie." Takes me a while to get through a whole ep, because I watch about three sketches at a time, but being able to turn it off after a few minutes is very convenient.

And do you feel that bugger sounds polite? I mean, I may have the wrong impression.

Well, it's not polite, but it's a fairly mild swearword. I wouldn't say it (or any other swearword) in front of a class or my boss, but I wouldn't feel too bad about having anyone hear me say it in an informal situation. It can be said affectionately to denote fond exasperation - "you daft (old) bugger" isn't at all strong. "Bloody" is stronger (though still not that strong).

One of my friends (daughter of a preacher) adopted "bugger" as her swear word, innocent of what it meant. Her parents didn't tell her (I think they were too busy snickering), so I got to explain it.

Good times.

The parent who was a preacher must have been pretty tolerant to not bother explaining it. :)

I can't remember what his reaction was when he found out she was reading slash, but I think it was along the lines of "Eh, whatever." They are Cool People, and a hell of a lot more open-minded than most non-religious folks I've met.

That quiz is terribly inacurrate! I got f***, which I rarely say and am attempting to eliminate from my vocabulary all together. No curses for me thanks.

I don't think "bother" is an option, and I'm sure my favorite ("mots dits") is not.

I watched ep which had the German commandant/British officer sketch, where Stephen is tied to a chair and chases Hugh around the office. *chortles* :) But since then I've been trying to force myself to stick to watching them in order, so I'm on Season One, Episode Four. There's a Schoolboy!Hugh & Headmaster!Stephen sketch in this one. ;>
