x-mas cards

I have here on my desk two (2) (II) holiday cards from [livejournal.com profile] luvsrimmer. :)  The first one she sent (of a stoned looking robin - hee!) bounced back to her because I forgot to update my address with the RDSS two years ago when we moved, so she very kindly sent it to me again, inside another - "Season's Greetings from Leighton Buzzard."  The town she moved to has it's own Christmas cards - I thought that was rather cool. :)  Luvsie used to live in Boston, but she moved to this town in England that's named after carrion birds, for some reason.  And speaking of birds, she wrote on the first card, "what a Robin who looks rather stoned has to do with any December holiday is beyond me..."  Yes, what is that about?  She grew up only about 2 or 3 hours south of me, and in these parts we don't see much of robins at this time of year.  They're considered a sign of spring, which isn't comeing along for a few months, yet.  Though in the U.S. we often put cardinals on our cards, probably only because the red contrast nicely with snow.

...

Okay.  I do ramble when I'm tired, and I'm freaking exhausted, worn out, beat up and ... have to drive Eor to work, now, so that I can have the car to go in to work early.  Gah.  TGIF.

Evidently the American robin is a different bird to the British one and it is around at this time of year. Still seems odd to me!

Had to laugh at you saying I lived in Boston. Actually I grew up a lot closer to Providence than Boston, in Taunton.
