Six Things About Me

1) I look at hands, and for a long time I would obsessively count people's fingers when I first met them. Sometimes I still do. I formed this habit after happening to see an episode of "This Old House" where someone had put his hand in the wet cement, and the guy who escorts the viewer around the site commented that the person who had done it would have to know he would be found out because he was the only person on the crew with six fingers.
2) I probably went to church regularly for a couple of months when I was a kid, only because my parents thought that it would make the other people in town dislike us less. They let me quit when I complained that I never got to see Grammy because she always came when I was at Sunday school.
3) Although I'm from a state where one mostly can't get by without driving, I managed to avoid learning to drive until I was in my thirties.
4) Although I can be meticulous to the point of obsessiveness about some things, particularly when at work, I find keeping my home surroundings neat and clean to be nearly impossible.
5) Smells are very influential in my world.
6) I'm contrary. Not just the ordinary contrary - anyone will be inclined to not like a book or a movie that you give them with a rave about how much they will like it. No, I go beyond that. If you tell me to do something which I really WANT to do, I will immediately want to do anything else. I can't help it, and I wish I could turn this off.
I'm supposed to tag six people, but I don't like to obligate people. If you feel like doing it, I'd like to hear six things from any of you. Right now I have to go to bed. :)
