You probably won't believe this, but this is the first Agatha Christie I've ever read. Pretty fun and satisfying, over all; I think she wrapped up all the loose ends, and I was pretty sure who the murderer was early on in the book, but of course there were one or two clues which were dropped so casually or left until near the end that kept me from being absolutely sure.

I've only read one and at the risk of letting spoilers fly, the murderer turned out to be a suspicious, rude, working clas guy with a big black beard. It was so annoying. I thought all through the book that he was the obvious distraction (along with the suspicious FORIEGN JEW) from whoever really did the nefarious deed. I suppose in that sense I didn't guess the real murderer, but I don't think that's what the author was going for!

I've got to admit I was pretty disappointed with her depictions of any of the working class people in the book. I restrained myself in my review, because I didn't want to come across too critical on the basis of having only read one book, but it seemed the best any of them got was shrewd but still stupid - I'm pretty sure that was almost the exact phrase she used.
