Today I sorta met the Duke and Duchess of Abercorn. I wish it could have been under slightly different circumstances. We were gate checking IDs (a random screening) and the guy who was working the gate for the airline started going on about how some guy's parents named him "Duke of." As in "Can you believe that? What a name. So he's 'Duke of Abercorn.'" And then
jigsaw92301 and Double D starting joking around about it. When the plane started loading and we began checking IDs this tall couple made a beeline over to me and offered their IDs. Often I just wave aside people who offer them (if you're willing we probably don't need to check you is my theory) but I didn't want to be rude so I took a quick glance, said thanks and sent them on their way.
And then went and let the gate guy know: "By the way, his name wasn't 'Duke of'. His name was James. He IS the Duke of. As in 'James, the Duke of Abercorn.'"
"Whaaat? They still have those?"
:P
Of course
jigsaw92301 met Willem_Dafoe yesterday, and actually helped him clean up his spilled coffee, had a short conversation with him, and got his autograph, so I can't upstage that. ;) He said Dafoe was very personable, and then posted on his Facebook "as of today, hangs out with Willem Dafoe," to which Jaeger posted, "I already have dibs on [jigsaw]. not really in the best friend kind o way. more of the subdominant relation kind of way." And I of course leered like a dirty old woman because that's my role. I told Jigsaw today that I might have to write fic about him and Jaeger. "Oh the adventures we could have!" he crowed. :)
And let's see, I did feel like there was something else I wanted to talk about. Oh, I walked 2.7 miles this morning - seems like not so much, but part of it was up Torrey Hill Range Road, which is really steep. Man, I was puffing like a bellows.
