bride zombie

Why is there usually a zombie dressed as a bride in most zombie movies? Is it just to evoke angst that some woman died on her wedding day, or was there ever a minor fad of burying any woman who could still fit into it in her wedding dress?

Hmm, women used to get married in whatever was their best dress, and people generally get buried in their best, so...

Although that wouldn't account for the preponderance of modern-type fluffy white meringues! I think they just look good spattered with blood.
