What is it about this word?

I was having an overall very pleasant conversation with someone at work, yesterday, and he was telling me how much I would like Vancouver, when he came out with this phrase, something like: "It really suits someone of your lifestyle.  Though you might have to loosen up a bit."

Why do I hate the word 'lifestyle'?   I'm not planning on loosening up to fit someone else's idea of what my lifestyle should be, I am actually kind of comfortable with myself the way I am.  Or am I misinterpreting what he meant, there?
