bedbugs! *shudder*
There's bedbugs in our building, and they're going to fumigate next Monday. Of course, we're going to be gone, which is kind of convenient in some ways, but we've got to get the house prepared and cleaned before we go, which is terribly inconvenient. I wonder, though, if I have to wash every stitch of cloth in the house in hot water? The instructions aren't really clear to me. And, of course, some things can't be washed in hot water - our sweaters would all shrink. Okay, not all, but the really good ones. Should I take anything which can't be washed hot to a dry cleaners? I called the management company, but I don't expect they'll get back to me. I've looked around online, but I haven't got the mad research skillz. I wasn't sure, before I started researching online, if they meant I should wash all clothing or just dirty clothing, but now it seems clear they really did mean all clothing. I'm going to have to ask for Friday off to attend to this. And I suppose I should check with the dry cleaners to make sure it's okay that I leave my clothes for over a week. Hm. I wonder if I could leave a good chunk of the other clothing with a cleaner, as well? It would make everything much easier, although more expensive. I've never dealt with this problem, before. Creepy crawly!
eta: According to this site bedbugs do not move far, and treatment is generally NOT needed on all bedrooms in a building. However, one should expect to have to do treatments three times in the first month after finding them. I love this. Our management is threatening us with eviction or having to pay for it ourselves if we don't do our cleaning correctly and they have to do the treatment a second time.
PS! The good news of today is that I got a phone message from my brother, Eightball, last night saying he actually WILL come visit! He's only managed to get three days away, which to my mind is a ridiculously short amount of time to allow someone to get to Maine and visit family they haven't seen in years, but it's something, anyway, and I'll be so glad to see him that I can't even express it.
