Guys, I have a serious plot issue coming up with "Swept Away!" that I need help with badly. This is ... um, a bit weird. And I don't know how to avoid it.
So, you know how I've been trying to make it clear all along that humans aren't poisoned by the native life, but can't really digest the plants or meat all that efficiently? (If that hasn't been evident please let me know and I'll try to make sure it IS, earlier on.) Anyway, I decided that the elephants CAN digest the native flora because they have genetically engineered bacteria in their intestines. Now, how can the humans get these bacteria into their own intestines?
Well, I thought of one way, but I don't want to use it. They could ball up some elephant shit and make a suppository of it. I DON'T WANT TO WRITE THAT.
However, I think it's the only sensible thing to do. Do you think such a thing has any chance of being possible to handle, um... with tact and dignity?
PLEASE HELP ME.
Oh, also, if you haven't already heard: Riptide Publishing is launching a new LGBTQ YA section. I never before thought I had a snowballs chance in hell of getting "Swept Away" published, so I wasn't bothering to write with that in mind, but now there might be the slimmest sliver of a possibility. http://www.tritonya.com/
