A tool to help one focus while writing. It fills up your entire screen so that all you see is your 'paper.' It's free, and Eor believes it to be non-dangerous. :) I haven't used it yet.

Funny timing on this. I have on occasion managed to eat nothing but tea and bullion for a couple of days, so I guess that's close. I thought I might do that today - liquid fasting - because my tummy was SO upset yesterday I thought it might be a good idea, but [livejournal.com profile] eor actually wants breakfast, today, so ... the only thing I can't resist is temptation. I love breakfast, it's my favorite meal. We have hash cooking and potatoes boiling, and I'll be starting the eggs, soon. :)

My tummy was probably upset yesterday because I ate a half a muffin, made with wheat. I had thought that I had been good enough for long enough that it wouldn't be too bad, but it was bad. Maybe the cup of coffee didn't help, even though I had soy. Maybe my tummy was still a little pissed at me from the day before yesterday, when I ate Rat Girl's leftover chili. Yummylicious, but later in the day on Thursday I had incredible stabbing pains in my stomach. Yeah. I'm sick of having such a tender tummy when all my life up until the past couple of years I could eat anything at all. I wonder if I abused it too much? Or if I damaged it by using non-stick pots that the coating fell off of, causing a million tiny cuts in my intestines?

I'm so sick of talking about my health issues, though. I've been having headaches, recently, and before that a lot of dizzyness (which comes back every time I climb four sets of stairs or otherwise exert myself) and CeeJay started after me again about how these are symptoms of heart disease and I need an EKG. "You're dead, [derien], you're dead." "We're all dead," I said, "we just don't know it yet." I figure what these symptoms are telling me is that I need to exert myself more often. Push my limits and keep expanding them.

Better get the eggs cooking!

I know I've told you all this story before, but what the heck.

When I was in college some random guy mispronounced my name that way, and said, "That's pretty. That's French, isn't it?" At that moment I didn't put it together, but later I remembered, or looked up, or asked someone, and realized that 'de rien' is what they give you to say in beginning French class for "you're welcome." In fact, the French don't actually have a phrase for this, but 'de rien' means 'of nothing' or not important. So that's why my LJ is 'inconsequentialities' and my website is a 'trivial place' and usually when I need a last name for something online I use 'Nada.'

A Writers Block from a few days ago, and I can't think how I never saw it.

Harry Potter
Remus/Sirius
Harry/Ron
Neville/Luna/Ginny
and/or
Draco/Hermione/Ginny
Snape/Hagrid (okay, I know everyone thinks I'm a real perv for this one, but for some reason I really like the JadedCynic/InnocentOptimist pairing. It's so damned sweet.)

(Seriously, Harry/Ginny always seemed like he would be closing his eyes and trying to pretend she's her brother who is his Most Important Thing. Just sad. I've been there; I had a crush on my ex-bf's sister.)

Sherlock Holmes
Holmes/Watson (everyone sees it besides the het-centric Holmes/Irene Adler shippers so it's not exactly unusual, and it might actually have been intended by Doyle, but it's still my favorite.)
Holmes/Watson/Lestrade (I don't know if it's just because I love threesomes, but I really like this combination.)

Jeeves and Wooster
Jeeves/Wooster, of course! Not groundbreaking, again, but just my OTP. (And again I have a sneaking suspicion that the author may actually have intended it.)
Rocky Todd/Bicky (at least I think that was his name - from the ep show where they're trying to keep their respective relatives apart, in New York. They're both writers; Rocky is a poet and Bicky I think writes novels.)

Star Trek
Spock/McCoy - I've recently been converted. Much better than Spock/Kirk, imho, because I'm not that fond of Kirk. Still, for the sake of a threesome I can read
Spock/McCoy/Kirk.
Chekov/Sulu - possibly predictable, but cute and fun.
Chekov/Sulu/Uhura works for me, too, in a fuckbuddies kind of way.
Chekov/Scotty - I have no idea why. Eor suggested it to me one day and my mind just latched onto it. It has to do with an Innocent/Cynic thing again, I think, though Scotty is not all that cynical.

Star Trek: TNG
Picard/Q
Data/Geordi

Star Trek: DS9
Bashir/Garak (was that not intended? I don't know.)
Quark/Odo
Jadzia Dax/O'Brien/Keiko O'Brien

House
House/Wilson/Cuddy (er, again, possibly intended.)

Lord of the Rings
Legolas/Gimli
Merry/Pippin
Sam/Frodo

Vorkosigan series
Ivan/Byerly
Miles/Gregor

I feel I'm a little lax in the area of coming up with unusual ships, but I guess that's not all that important to me.

(Btw, who the hell are President Roslin and Gaius Baltar?)

Well that's fun. It's snowing like a bastard, now, and I'm really glad I arranged a ride, because even if I'd had my car today I wouldn't want to drive in this. Got a phone call last night: "Hi, this is [female coworker who used to sell books]. [Buck] wants to know your address again."

It's so nice that we have coworkers who will make calls for us. :) Buck has no cell or email so I'd better be on the front porch before 11AM and ready to GO. He seems to like being difficult to get in contact with, and turned aside my berating of him about it with, "And yet, I'm fine." He's also serene most of the time, so there might be something to be said for it. (And no, I wasn't berating him in relation to coming to pick me up; he volunteered on that and I don't look a gift horse in the mouth. I think it was around something we aren't supposed to talk about at work but I thought he should be interested in. Notice the word "should.")

I've picked away at this all morning between doing other things (although I haven't been very productive overall... >:P) and now it's time to get my butt out there on the snowy porch, so let me leave you with this thought... Is there any fandom that can't benefit from a Wodehousian spin? (YouTube vid of Kirk/Spock set to the theme music of Jeeves and Wooster.)
[Error: unknown template qotd]Bigfoot, totally. I'll read anything about Sasquach. I even watched "Harry and the Hendersons," a miserable sitcom about Bigfoot living in the suburbs with a human family. When we were teasing one of our co-workers that he was going to Oregon to hunt down Bigfoot I asked him to get an autograph for me, as he's my favorite celebrity. :) Did you know a queer Bigfoot kidnapped a lumberjack and took him to his cave and kept him there for a while? I read that in the Weekly World News, they had an interview with the guy! So sweet. :) I'm so upset that the Weekly World News has been shut down. Where am I going to get my news of Bigfoot??

(Somehow I started to answer this memey thing on someone else's journal, but it looks as though it's going to post to my own journal. It even modifies my tags. Neat trick.)

Tea:
Boil the water, warm the pot with a little of the hot water, use about a teaspoon of tea leaves or one tea bag (my pot is not very large). A generous teaspoon of honey or sometimes a tablespoon, depending how I feel which I put directly into the pot. Then I often pour a goodly dollop of goat's milk into my cup (a goodly dollop probably is almost a quarter of the cup) and top up with the tea. (And if you shake up the goat's milk before pouring it you get a nice froth.)
