So I don't have much to write. I got a call from the insurance nurse, today, and she went over everything that happened re the hospital and etc with me. I don't know if I should have not spoken, or not said as much as I did - I do tend to be trusting, I guess. I'm not good at prevarication. Eor was concerned it was a scammer, at first. And it is! It's the insurance company - they're the biggest scammers ever. I kind of didn't trust her because she was so complimentary about how smart I was, what a go-getter, my sense of humor, and thanking me for being so nice. Yeah, pretty sure I am now fucked, thinking it over.
At any rate, I did straight up ask her, since she's a nurse, "Hey, I did bend over to snip a few weeds and my belly hurt around my bladder, after. Do you think that's a bad thing?"
She was like, "Didn't they tell you not to bend, twist or lift?"
I said, "Not that I recall. They told me not to lift, but I don't think they said anything about not bending or twisting."
She said maybe I should call my doctor or call the hospital, and I said I already have an appointment with my doctor tomorrow, and I figured I'd just watch to see I don't spike a fever, and she agreed that probably sounded okay. So... hopefully if the insurance company wants to give me a hard time they'll at least give me points for honesty? Nah, they don't do that.
I WAS specifically told, at the hospital, to keep moving, not sit still too much. I took this as permission to drive around and do light errands. (Whenever there's any lifting of anything I get someone else to do it.) So, things I did today include:
-Walked around the edge of our property. I did snip some things that were growing into the trail, but I did NOT pick them up.
-Went back to the hospital briefly to ask them to check their lost and found for my driving glasses. (What a rabbit warren that hospital is.)
-When they did not have them, went to my optometrist's office to pick out some frames for new driving glasses.
-Made an appointment with my optometrist for Wednesday to see if he can tweak my prescription a little and fix the blurryness in my right eye, or if I should go back to the opthamologist. (Two years ago the opthamologist assured me that I'm not going blind, but my eye was going through some natural changes - something was detaching in the back. I just wonder when it's going to settle down.)
-Delivered 3 heads of lettuce we grew in our garden to my work. Checked my mailbox there to see if anyone had volunteered to take Monday the 21st for me so I can hang with my brother while he's in Maine. Nobody had, but someone suggested another person I could ask, directly, and I posted on the board that I would also give $50 to anyone who takes it. Why not. Life is short.
-Picked up a few cardboard boxes at U-Haul so Eor can pack away dishes we're not using.
I also got a text from a co-worker (KT) which... well, I have to go back in time, now. Last Monday, as I was leaving for the hospital, he texted me to let me know that an ex-co-worker, Rick P., who retired about two years ago, recently died. Today he had found out the cause of death - pancreatitis. Apparently he got misdiagnosed at first, sent home with antibiotics, got worse, his wife took him back... and he died there. Quite possibly in the same ER I was in on Monday, though I'm not sure. And yeah, he did have other things going on - diabetes.
Did I mention that last Monday when I was going through my ordeal at the Urgent Care I asked if they could eliminate pancreatitis? And they said that the CAT scan they gave me did eliminate that.
I liked Rick, aka The Penguin. He was an odd guy. Super Christian, but also a feminist and a big Lord Of The Rings fan. We had lots of interesting conversations. The last time I saw him, not long after he retired, I recognized it was his car ahead of me and followed him when he pulled into a parking lot so I could give him a hug. I'm glad now that I did. I hope it wasn't too hard on him, that they'd given him good pain killers at least.

Yes, insurance carriers are EVIL. And your hospital sounds...less than competent, shall we say.
