The Number One Reason White Men Give For Not Getting Involved With Diversity and Inclusion

Short version:

10% of the respondents didn't think it was important at all, and their reason for not getting involved was that it didn't benefit themselves.

42% thought Diversity and Inclusion was important, but of that group 44% were still not getting involved, and their reason was "I'm too busy".

Now, the author of the article concludes:

The unspoken part of the knee-jerk response "I’m too busy is," I’m too busy to help someone else—meaning, My main responsibility is to myself. Privileged people are often brought up to think that way.

Not sure how I feel about this. I generally find that most of my energy is spent by the time I've worked and done some basic caring for myself. But, I can't claim to not be priveleged and lazy, even if I am a woman.

I am deeply sadden that its come to the point that perfectly reasonable folks
feel the need to self flagellate......where's Monty P when you need them.......
I personally find no fault with the flying rule...put your oxygen mask on Before you
try to help anyone else.....There is a failure to render aid law in the state I live in.....
the general rule of thumb is you are obligated only point you are not endangering yourself.
I think it applies to the 'bigger' scheme of things as well.
Also I sometimes think the interest in these issues may well be liken to skate boarding\
surfing culture .....the further from the ocean the bigger the interest...?

There's nothing like the Internet to make you feel shitty.

Maybe (gasp) some of them are actually too busy? I don't trust articles like this that paint such an enormous swath of our population with a single broad brush.
