I took my car for its inspection, yesterday, and Eor's car, today. And then I thought maybe I would quickly get myself an omelet at the new place.

The trouble with new places is that the staff is new. I think I make a better omelet, and I am no good at them.

ETA: I still gave the waitress a tip of nearly 50% - she was trying. And breakfast waitress with a terrible kitchen must be one of the worst underpaid jobs. I overheard her dealing with other people's complaints.

And, my omelette was completely gone in 15 minutes, regardless of my snide opinion. No longer hungry, I got to work with plenty of time to spare. So it's all good.

The guy who runs the café store down the road from my place says it's very hard to find a good breakfast cook right now. Good omelettes are not easy to make! Specifically, this one was browned both on the outside AND the inside, and there was no trace of any kind of cheese. I drenched it in ketchup. In addition, the potatoes, though not too bad, were not homefries, as billed. They were sliced, lightly cooked, and made to appear brown with spices. Proper homefries should be chunks, a little burned.

Do you remember when we used to go that place in Monument Square???
Endless cups of coffee...you always had a little cream with your coffee:)
It's odd I always thought there was no shortage of breakfast places in your area.
It has been years-- so perhaps some of them closed.....
I used to really miss the eating out in your area but now I'm pretty much on low sodium diet.
