I've begun one of those great projects without really intending to. While Hawk was living here we'd developed, on top of our armoire, a pile of clothes which I hadn't quite got around to putting away, because our space was limited enough that I was having trouble shoving everything in. Now that he's gone we have another closet, again. And I'm wishing I had another bureau, because I still can't figure out how to organize everything. I had decided I would put the things I have to have early in the morning on work days all in one drawer, because they were spread through all the drawers of my dresser and sometimes my opening three different drawers sets off the dog upstairs, barking. It's 5am, someone is moving, somewhere, it's his job to let everyone know! Now I've got a couple of piles of stuff that I can't figure out how to divide. The stuff I don't wear often - the skimpy stuff for under wedding-and-funeral clothes (which could probably all fit in a gallon sized plastic ziplock bag, reflecting my deep mistrust of trying to look like a grownup), and the same for under dressup-and-look-like-a-geek clothes (I have a lot more of those, but still don't use them often, reflecting my affection for people who look like geeks but shyness of standing out from the crowd.). And then there's bathing suits and things to go over them, which I wear maybe once a year. Would you stuff all that into plastic boxes under the bed, or in the spare room closet?
It's also been brought to my attention that I have a great fondness for pyjamas - I have at least three pairs of pants and four tops, not to mention the four or five bras for wearing to bed.
It's helping me to write about it, but I find organization a HUGE challenge, which you'd know if you ever saw my desk. Um. Yeah. *looks it over, sadly* I can never figure out where to start, it ALL seems to need to be there. Right now there's a can of green beans sitting in front of me - time for lunch.
