The dreaded barrettes. Yes, my hair has gotten to that stage. It's been in my eyes and making my forehead itch for the past week and I'm trying to decide whether to cut it myself or get it cut, but suspecting that the likelihood of finding a hair place open the day after Thanksgiving is not good. Unless it's at The Mall. And wondering if anyone, no matter how skilled, can get my hair out of my eyes and yet keep the length without making it all country-singer-mulletty. Because I've been trying to let it grow out, but if I end up looking like a country singer it will ALL have to go. I'm pretty sure if I cut it myself that's exactly what will happen.

Someday, though, someday... I'm going to get annoyed at my hair, grab the clippers and give myself an 80s dyke do. I may be IN my 80s before I get up the courage, but I've always wanted to. ;)

Aww, I know the feeling. Mine is longish again now, but it's so annoying when it's at an in between stage. I think you should be hopeful to find a hairdresser that can do what you want though. Most I've gone to in my life did annoying things to my hair, but I have found a few great and cheap ones (and in both cases they couldn't even speak English, and yet they managed what the trendy, £80 haircut shops couldn't, and gave me a top notch do). That was my Chinese guy back in Limerick, and the place I go to here where I can't determine the nationality of the hairdressers but I think they might be Lebanese.

Actually, my hairdresser back in Limerick knew two "English" phrases and they were "Victoria Beckham" and "CHUNKY HIGHLIGHTS!!" and alarming as that was, he was still a great haridresser and always did nice short dos on me that were neither Victoria Beckham nor involved chunky highlights(!!!).

*chortles* Your hairdresser in Limerick sounds like he should be a background character in a romantic comedy! :D In fact somehow I have a feeling that if you could find some vague narrative flow with which to begin and end the movie you could do something amazing with scenes from your and Micky's life. :)
