Okay, now I feel sorry for unleashing Wolfie_Sara's wrath onto that poor random kid who was on the porch at Neal Street yesterday (because who knows that such a thing as wrath* bouncing around in the ozone can do?) - apparently he was actually smoking and didn't want to get caught, or crying or something. One of our neighbors HAD taken the box in to keep it safe, and it was on the stairs behind the second door where I couldn't see it when I peered in through the window! Let me just say that again because it feels so good - we got our $600 recorder after all and our faith in our neighbors as good people has been reinforced! No idea which neighbor it was, but we doubt that the UPS guy got in that far on his own, since the outside door is always locked and the inside one often is.

What a relief off our minds!

I'm SO glad to hear that; now you're spared lots of headaches and have your video recorder.

I was going to suggest that this might be what had happened yesterday, but I always get the impression from you that Portland is (a) terribly crime-ridden, and (b) not at all neighborly, so I didn't bother. I like to think that's what would happen anywhere, if there were even much chance that something would get stolen in the first place. I know there always is that chance, and in some places it's much more likely than others. I'm sure I'm spoiled living here; there have been times I've discovered a package on my front porch that had been there for a couple days, and it always amazes me that it hasn't been nicked, but there you go, I've probably just jinxed myself now.

Anyway, congrats on the recovery of the recorder!
