I just watched this movie for the first time last night with Eor and our friend Caw. If you've never seen this movie, it might be something interesting to do once. It's probably even funnier if you just watched Monty Python's Holy Grail the night before. Being on acid, or possibly stoned, would probably actually make it seem sensible - I've got to think the director and probably most of the actors were majorly f--ed up when they made it. We gave it the Mystery Science Theatre treatment with a slash mindset, but it's almost _too_ wide open for that sort of thing. I mean, please - the scene where Lancelot kisses Arthur's sword... ummmm. And when we found out that The Holy Grail was actually made seven years _before_ Excalibur, that really freaked me out. There's so many parallels - the peasants mucking in the mud, the hacked off arms gouting blood, it's as if they decided to try to make a serious movie off of a spoof. Oh, and the choral chanting music that was used in the big battle scene with Mordred near the end... Eor insisted it had also been used in The Exorcist, though Caw disagreed. It may have been used in lots of other movies. If anyone knows drop me a note.
