We got the last bit of flooring painted last Monday. That was in the computer room, so I couldn't get to my computer for a few days - yikes, withdrawals! But there was a reason it had been carpeted - there are huge cracks in the floor where you can look down through to the basement. We'll have to fill those, I guess. Meanwhile, we've had something like 10 different groups of people shown through our home in the last week. We have to keep it spotless, which we're actually doing pretty good at (amazing to me!), and we have to vacate during the time the agent will be showing them around.
Today we ended up spending the whole midday cleaning, without having breakfast, and then went out for a late lunch and a drive to wait for her to get done showing. We were supposed to be able to come back in at 5pm, but they hung out here. We would cruise by and see cars in our yard, and had to do this several times before we decided to just go read for a while longer. We had the newspapers, because Eor's searching like mad for a job. He really doesn't want to give up this house if he can avoid it, and the job market seems to be turning around a little bit. I also had a book of Sherlock Holmes pastiches which our friend, O, loaned me last night, which is fun.:)
We started so late in the morning because we went out dancing last night - yay! Always such good eye-candy at this freak place in Cambridge (ManRay, for anyone local to the area.) And always someone to be amused at, as well.:) It had been SO long since we'd gone dancing, and we also got to spend the earlier evening with O, who we hadn't seen in ages, which was very cool.:) She got us trying out all these expensive liquors which she collects from different countries, then we went out to dinner at an excellent little hole-in-the-wall Chinese place. Although I had to try her roomate's meatball soup before we went - her roomate is a fantastic cook. I guess she does traditional kosher, pretty much, so I had an international cuisine kind of night.:)
O wants to convince us to move to the Cambridge area, to be near her. But she has a job in Paris and will be moving there in August. Anyway, the cost of living there is even higher than here, and we really need to move somewhere that the cost of living is lower, if we move.
Well, now that fixing up is done, and all we have to do is keep the house clean, it's time for me to be resting up. I'd gotten soooo run down the past few weeks. This past week has been just a bouncing back period. Even though I've theoretically had time in the evenings, all I've done is read a little and go straight to bed. And I think it's time, this evening, for me to do that again. 9:15 and I'm headed for bed. This feels like a good thing. No dinner - that's fine, after the huge lunch. At least I'm losing some weight.:) It's not much, yet, but the chain-mail skirt Eor made for me last fall is sliding right past my hips.:)
