[livejournal.com profile] daegaer was kind enough to think up questions for me, and it took me ages of thought to answer these...

How would you describe your political views?

Conservative Liberal - I was raised radical paranoid liberal and rebelled by trying to see the different sides of political viewpoints. I think government should not tell people what to do in their personal lives, but spend more money on education so that the people will be informed enough to make smart decisions about their personal lives. Of course I also believe that most elected officials are in search of power and prestige, not in it for improving the quality of life for the common man. Therefor they will never want the populous to be informed enough to make smart decisions, because then the populous won't be as controlable. But, I think government is a neccessary evil, because people are too self-centered to handle anarchy.

Do you like elves? Why or why not?

I think I prefer dwarves. Elves are too perfect - that gets dull quick.

What responsibilities should writers have when writing?

Depends on what they're writing. If they're going to label it a history they should try to stick to facts as much as possible, and not abandon them for "narrative flow." I've also been dissapointed in how slanted the language in history books can often be, matching the bias of the authors. I think everyone has the same moral responsibility to do no harm to others. (I will put in the caveat "unless it's for the greater good," even though I know that opens all kinds of grey areas). However, many people - including writers, politicians, people who decide what programs will be shown on TV, ministers and sports stars - have positions which allow them a greater possibility to influence others and therefor to do harm. I seem to have a terrible time putting this concept into words which makes sense to other people, but yes, I do believe Joe Average on the street has exactly the same moral responsibility as anyone else. If Joe Average abuses his responsibility his circle of influence is smaller, but just because he can do less damage doesn't mean his responsibility is less.

Assuming you have adequate supplies to get you started in your new life,
would you rather be stranded on a desert island, in the rain forest, or
on a mountain?

If I don't have to worry about survival, the mountain would be the most interesting of the three. More to look at than just trees and the mildew on your toes, or trees and shark-infested water. Sky, a variety of vantage points to see different landscapes below, rugged rock, maybe even cliffs.

Does what goes around really come around?

Yes, because if you're an asshole to people they won't ever want to help you out, but I've seen people bend all the rules to help people who've been sweet to them.
