For some reason I generally feel happy on my birthday.:) Except for 30, when I cried because I felt old. Ha! Today I'm perusing the Blue Cross website trying to find a doctor so I can schedule a checkup (anyone got a doctor to recommend?), because I am after all old and a physical wouldn't be a bad idea.

I'm trying to decide if I want to spend some money on myself or not - or rather, exactly how much. I've been dreaming about carrot cake, but I'd settle for chocolate if it was gluten-free and somebody else made it. If I try to bake my own birthday cake I probably won't be happy, because the results will most likely not be edible to pigeons. Then I'm trying to decide if I want to take myself out to a matinee. I'm more and more interested in seeing Pirates of the Caribean, since [livejournal.com profile] carmarthen has written some rather cool fic about Sparrow and Norrington, but I'm leaning more toward renting movies so I can eat cake. (I've been avoiding the movie since it's been all the rage, because I've always liked pirates but I hate to jump on current bandwagons.) And then I could also wait until [livejournal.com profile] eor gets home (tomorrow evening) to really do any celebrating.
I wandered all over and didn't find a gluten-free birthday cake. What's the matter with using the phone, I ask myself? (Only the fact that I just hate using the phone and prefer to walk around, I answer myself.) Well, tomorrow morning, early, I'll start phoning bakeries. I did find a gluten free thing like a bama pie (little pecan pie), so I'll have that after dinner. If I can remember to save space for it! Dinner will be liver and onions with mashed potato, yet again, this time with summer squash, zuchini and an orange pepper. I'm drooling just thinking about it.:) (Am I food-obsessed? Uh, I think that would be a 'yeah.') And I decided to rent movies rather than go to the matinee - I'd rather do a matinee with [livejournal.com profile] eor when he gets back. I went a bit overboard: Three eps of Jeeves and Wooster, and "Shanghai Knights" (Jackie Chan).

I am missing [livejournal.com profile] eor and find myself completely distractable and completely unmotivated without him, but he'll be back tomorrow evening. Meanwhile, on with the liver and onions! (he hates the smell of that cooking, so I'm getting a year's worth in while he's gone.;)).
