I repeated most of my rant, pretty much what I posted in my LJ yesterday, in the inbriefing yesterday morning. Of course it was louder, and with more, er, inappropriate language thrown in, at first. I got started because MJ brought it up, so I was really talking to him at that point, but loudly.

I stepped outside the breakroom for some reason and CeeJay talked me calm and gave me a hug (quick detour: this is the most huggy group of people I've ever been associated with, and I've gotten almost completely comfortable with it, it's amazing), then I went back in for another round where I tried to purposely address the group and be a bit more focussed and less vulgar. I occationally got inturrupted by groundswells of people pounding on the desk and chanting my name, which would then make me break up laughing - my co-workers know how to lighten me up.:) People don't see me worked up very often, so it amuses them - I hope to keep it that way. It wouldn't stay amusing if they saw it often.

One of the Leads offered to be a go-between and talk to Needy for me, and I was a bit hesitant but did admit that perhaps a buffer would be a good idea at the moment, which drew more laughter. I ended up collecting $25, immediately - one guy wrote out a check for $10 to Needy while I was talking, because he didn't have it on him in cash. Someone suggested I should repeat the same performance the next day. Uh, no, I don't do command performances, my heart really has to be in it for me to talk to a group at all. I did write a note on the white board that we have already far surpassed the entire month of July: "GO US!" $40! Weird.

Ch 22 is also lovely, and feels as if it might be the concluding chapter of A Walk in the Karakorum. I <3 this story. Bracy/Gedge 4evah!

*has been searching for appropriate pictures of British East India Company uniforms and not finding any - waaah!*

I even found myself staring at photos of Enfield rifles, wondering if they were the type Gedge should be using. [livejournal.com profile] daegaer's fics eat my brain.

So far I've got 6.75 hours overtime for this pay period, and tonight and tomorrow are my "scheduled" days to have overtime, so there'll probably be more. Not being home tonight to see as much of [livejournal.com profile] eor makes me sad :(:(, but yay for extra money to pay down the credit card.

Yesterday evening I didn't so much mind being there. Usually I'm dead tired and dying to get home, but for some reason I wasn't so tired yesterday, maybe because Preacher gave me chocolate covered coffee beans that made me go *zing!*. (I should take in the box Hawk gave me for my birthday last year, considering they're almost a year old, now, they should probably be eaten, and share it with Preacher.) I lucked out because I got to work with Casper, Preacher, FIL and Juluka (especially fun to work with him, since I don't much anymore because he's on the late shift), and KT was in one of those modes where he was getting some very funny zingers in.

I got talking to Casper about the Gilligan/Professor story, and he was trying to guess what sort of scenario I'd choose for that: "Maybe they're tying together a raft and the Professor's all sweaty? Maybe they're drinking a little coconut wine?" (Unfortunatly I can't describe the very funny things he does with his voice that made me laugh helplessly when he said this.) I didn't want to tell him, though, I want him to read it. But I don't know if he will, it's really not the type of thing he reads, I think. He surprised me, though, by not saying, "You're right, that's sick," but saying instead, "I can see this. It kind of makes sense."
