Older information about how to reproduce effects of religious experiences using sound, electromagnetic radiation ("nothing more powerful than what you'd get by putting your head next to a computer monitor." I was like 'woah' and moved my head back.) and electrical shocks to the brain: God and the Brain . Oddly enough, that journalist comes to the conclusion that religious experiences become suspect because they're just about our brains getting out of whack. I'd have thought it would be just as possible, if not more so, to conclude that our brains are amazingly complex organs that can sense and interact with more things than are dreamed of in his philosophy.
