mizzmarvel pointed out to me that I had used the dreaded "who's" instead of "whose," so I went to fix that, and I don't know why, maybe because I just hadn't used Open Office on this new computer, I decided to use Open Office. It did something. Something bad. All my returns went away, and then when I opened it again in WordPad all my quotation marks became markup. I've had this happen before but I have no idea how we recovered from it. In fact, I suspect what I did was copy the chapter back down from LJ and start over with that.
