I just 'balanced' my checkbook (a joke, because I write down whatever the bank has and subtract it down and still my answer doesn't match up with theirs, and how can that be?? but anyway...) and I noticed that we went out to Norm's five times during the month, Shere Punjab in Brunswick once, and India Palace here in Portland once. And I had lunch at the airport once. That seems like a lot of going out. Well, at least to Norm's. I think we should probably try to shift some of those Norm's visits down to India Palace. :)

I also feel better about lunch at the airport. It's not cheap by any means, but it's about what I spend on myself for dinner at Norm's. Yeah - for a burger and steamed vegetables that's NOT good, but it was a lunch that left me feeling quite satisfied and happy - I should really learn how to cook that.

The best thing about my checkbook - the bonus I got at the beginning of the month means that I could lose my job tomorrow and live this entire month over again exactly the same and still not be out of money. Of course if I lost my job I would not go out to Norm's five times.

Okay, off to pay the rent and pick up my new monitor - yay! :)

Monitor acquired! Rent paid! Shower taken! I'm so productive! Not. I forgot to do the dishes. Once again I'm singing the "where did my time go?" song. (Do you know that one? I can't think who did it - was it Johnny Clegg and Savuka?) I had intended to do dishes and go grocery shopping, starting out right when Eor left for work. Yeah, right, like that would ever happen.

Anyhow, off to work. I had some bitching to do about that, but it'll have to wait. :) At least I'm on special duty and will probably be outside a lot, in the sun - with my big hat on. Everyone loves the big hat. :)

It's so much smaller back to front that I can push it way far away from me on my desk, but the area of the screen is so large that I don't have to page down to get to the LJ links on my favorites! And it's clear and bright! And it was so light I easily carried it with one hand from the DHL office to my car! Damn, this is cool. :) Eor says I should turn it on before I turn the computer on, though, to forstall the computer getting confused as to whether to expect analog or digital. I wonder what would happen if it did get confused? Probably I'd just have to turn it on again?

Had a rather relaxed day away from passengers, discussing ghosts, the afterlife, the size of the universe, the impact of TV on Americans, and, oh yeah, screening some people who work at the airport. That detail can be really deadly dull if you're with the wrong people - some people will literally just sit and not talk all freakin day - but the last two times I've had it I've had fun and interesting conversations. I'm on it again tomorrow, because the other female screener who's trained and badged for it is on vacation. I've learned how to deal with the people who don't like to talk, though - I keep a journal which Teena gave me in my back pocket, and I can pull it out and write any time I get bored. The journal which fits in the back pocket is the best thing ever. I have one [livejournal.com profile] daegaer gave me which is a little thick but might also work when I use up the Teena ones.
