I got a pretty piece of paper with a coppery badge embossed at the top, in recognition of my five years of service. Funny, just the other day Style was saying to Diva that he was surprised that the Director hadn't come in and said a few words. Actually he said he'd expected the Director to "spew some pap" and was a little disappointed that he didn't. "I wanted pap spewing!"
One of the newbies who used to work for another gov't agency said that when he got a five years of service paper it was framed. I said that ours probably came framed and they took them out and sold the frames on e-bay.
The next day we were told we no longer will be able to carry any drinks into the Checkpoint. We can take in empty bottles and cups and fill them on the inside. So we'd have to buy coffee at Starbucks or the interior restaurant. Considering it's hard to just get a chance to run to the bathroom this seems unlikely - as it is I already come home and drink a half-gallon of water because I'm dehydrated by the end of a day at the Checkpoint. And the overnight people won't even have Starbucks to fall back on.
( plague and rumors )I mentioned that B.R. (I suppose I can call her Phoebe, another coworker's name for her. It suits her.) and I were going to go to the gym on Mondays and Wednesdays, but her class was cancelled yesterday so we went then. And we were both stunned and amazed that we were at the gym before 9AM and were on the ellipticals for a half hour. :) Then we did a bit of stretching and crunches (I don't have much ability for those) and then went for a walk, and was quite happy. :)
Mainertoo was trying to get people to go out to see his friends band, Kingpin, and Phoebe went to that and called me up an hour or so ago to report on that. :)
eor and I didn't attend because we've sort of gotten into the habit of going to Norm's on Thursdays. It's almost a standing date, by now, and I kind of like that.
And hm. Can't think of much else. Now we're waiting for something to be delivered for
eor and the UPS truck has gone by a couple of times but not stopped. This is annoying. The website says it was out for delivery
yesterday, and
this is confusing.
I just noticed that the blogalyzer meme I did a few days ago says my LJ is not so readable because I average 12 sentences per post. Apparently this is too 'complicated' - or wordy? *snorts* Sorry, my friends. I love you and all, but I'm not going to dumb down my journal - I don't think you'd appreciate that any more than I would.
