Is it silly to want to have communities on which nobody bothers to say anything, just so that I can see those communities on other people's profiles? Like, there could be (maybe there are, I don't know) comms for people born in particular decades just so that we could easily be reminded "Oh, right, this person is in my age group."

Or then again maybe not, because mostly I think it's better not to divide people by age. Some people are mature and sensible at a young age and some never become so. Some are born stodgy and others remain vibrantly young acting forever. So often I don't have anything at all in common with people 'my age' that usually I forget my age and am surprised to be reminded of it.

Maybe I'm just feeling old, today. And lonely.
15) "The Indiscretions of Archie" - P.G. Wodehouse

I really enjoyed this one. Probably one of his earlier works, it reads very much like the first Jeeves 'novel' - actually a series of unrelated adventures with an overarching theme of Archie trying to become accepted by his father-in-law and being unable to resist helping friends in need. Archie is a little thick but thoroughly good-natured and likable. No slash possibilities because Archie has no actual old school friends hanging around and gets married very early on in the proceedings.

I'm now back to having a paid account, but of course, dummie that I am, I deleted all the icons I had before and completely messed up all the posts I had made with relevant icons, and I'm sure there's no way I can rebuild that. :P
([livejournal.com profile] bravecows mentioned this a while back, but it's also in the Discworld Monthly, today, which reminded me that I had forgotten to pass it on...)

In the unlikely event that you missed the news this month, Terry has
personally donated 1 million USD to Alzheimers Research UK.  More
information about this is included in the news section.

Various fans felt it would be good to "Match it for Pratchett", so
if you wish to make a small donation why don't we see if we can
(collectively) match Terry's contribution.

Terry has asked that if you want to donate to Alzheimers Research
UK, please donate direct to the charity (not via some of the
websites that have popped up claiming to offer this service) if for
no other reason than that by donating direct to the charity you can
guarantee that 100% of your money gets to them.

The other advantage of donating direct is that if you are a UK tax
payer you can claim Gift Aid on your donation and the government
will pay the charity an extra percentage based on what you donate.

To make a donation visit http://www.alzheimers-research.org.uk/ and
please remember to mention "Terry Pratchett" in the notes section.
