I got a get-well card from lucylou :)


I'm not posting much because convalescence is really boring. And typing is probably still not a good thing to do. I watched movies, today: "The Twelve Chairs" (Mel Brooks), "To Wong Foo," and "The Muppets Take Manhattan." They all seemed a little slow and "To Wong Foo" seemed especially contrived.* (The young toughs who nearly turn rapists are suddenly completely sorted out by their leader being grabbed by the balls and told to speak politely to ladies?) Which probably only proves that I'm still highly critical even when under the influence of painkillers.

There's a character named Bender in "The Twelve Chairs," who is a bum and a con man (though has a decent streak in him, as he ends up hauling this older guy through all kinds of shit), and I wondered if Bender from Futurama was named after him, but he's not, he's named after the guy in "The Breakfast Club."

I've also been reading "Emma," Jane Austen. And I sewed two buttons on shirts. Go me.

I got to take a shower this morning. That was a little traumatic. This IS going to take some getting used to. Follow-up visit with the surgeon tomorrow, and I get to find out how much material they removed.

*One cannot complain that Muppets seem contrived.

Help me decide how to distract myself.
