It's been a lovely weekend, and I'm sorry but I set aside all the things that I should be doing - writing in any form, getting souvenir-presents together to send to people, etc - and tried to catch up on reading [livejournal.com profile] indeedsir, which has been busy the past few weeks. Actually the long story I spent most of my time reading was posted back in February and I had missed it, so I guess it was high time to try to get caught up.

We sat down last night and filled out the paperwork which had been waiting for us when we got back from England - stuff for the condo purchase. The PMI company doesn't want to cover a situation where there are five condos and only two are really sold already. The guy who's selling could make this easier by signing a contract on the one he's talking about keeping and living in himself. Waiting to see what's going to happen does kind of suck. Not as bad for me as for [livejournal.com profile] eor, I think, because I'm pretty used to my life feeling out of my control - one has to get used to that where I work - but it's still not great.

We also got our new lease for this apartment, which they want signed by the end of June, and they're raising the rent something like $40; a much larger increase than usual. I really want to get out of here, even if the condo doesn't come through. I'm to the point where I'd take an efficiency and stuff everything we own in a storage space if it would work out better, financially. I don't think it would, though.

I promised myself a date with my sneakers this morning, barring outright rain, and it's a lovely, sunny morning out there, so I need to get my shit together and go take a walk. I can probably drop the packet off at the post office on the way, and if I take my knapsack and the grocery list I can pick up the few things we could use.

...

Aaand instead of leaving a half hour or more ago when I began to write this, I got distracted reading more on [livejournal.com profile] indeedsir. Am leaving, damn it!
