I suppose that from some people's point of view our 'party' yesterday would not seem very partyish, but over the course of ten hours I got to see a favorite aunt who I haven't seen in at least twenty years, meet a couple of Eor's coworkers who seemed quite nice, drink wine and have a close talk with someone, hang with a few of my favorite coworkers, listen to music, and graze for hours. It was actually quite manageable as a party for me, a person who doesn't do well with large crowds.

Personally, I'd like to do something similar, though lower key, on a regular basis. Something more like 6pm to 10pm one regular Saturday a month we'll be home for whoever feels like dropping by. That way we wouldn't start going into the overdrive of reckless fretting about a 'party' that makes one buy a million paper plates and far too much cheese and chips. Having a little extra on hand at one point during the month would only that mean some cheese goes into the freezer, perhaps. I don't know. I can't ever seem to stick to some kind of plan like that, especially during the summer when every weekend gets booked up. I don't really like having a ton of people in my house all at once, so I'm not built for giving real parties, but I do yearn for tea and conversation and maybe a reason to cook muffins every once in a while, and I'd love to play croquet if only we could get the lawn in order. I wonder where the heck that horseshoes set is that goes with the pits in the back yard. And for bad weather or after dark we have some board games.

Have been playing with looking for tiles to use as backgrounds for my Dreamwidth (and possibly LiveJournal) and finding lots of diversions after googling 'ska plaid' and 'black white plaid.' There are some way cute blouses, skirts, dresses, pants, high-top sneaks and pumps (I guess? that type of shoe that falls off my foot) in black & white plaid. As backgrounds, everything I found leave something to be desired. Namely, reabability. No matter what color I use for the text it will boggle the eye. :) Sooo... really this hasn't gotten me anywhere, and I should have been balancing my checkbook or something productive, but I'm really enjoying this decompressing day after all the busyness I've had, lately.

I also found some girl's fashion journal. She posts pics of herself every now and then, and she's way cute and has pretty decent taste in clothes, but most of the fashion model pics make me giggle helplessly. :)

I think I'll put off working on this until I'm more clearheaded, someday. I just FTPed into Eor's computer by accident when I was thinking about where to post the plaid pics I've collected. "Get your butt off my computer!" Oops. Heh. :)
