Northern Short-tailed Shrew.

And if it is... well. I guess I won't feel so bad about putting it outside.

1) identified the rodent
2) moved my computer mouse to the left hand side (my right shoulder has been bothering me)
3) sorted some of the crap lying on my desk

I mainly got started on that last because I had to pull the desk apart in order to get the mouse moved over. And snip two zip ties. Eor said it was going to be easy - ha. Let us just say he was incorrect. Still, the result was good, I got rid of a lot of scrap paper that had just been waiting for a day when I was feeling ruthless.

Among the things which did not get thrown out, but which were on my desk:

* A winter holiday card from Hawk from last year. (It's just so goofy, with everyone in their cheeziest sweaters staring off into the middle distance, and the caption "Snow-el!" Hawk said it seemed like it really made that poor photographer's day to have them come in and want to do something over the top. :))
* A birthday card from sospan-fach from last year. (It spent at least a year up in the livingroom because it's so incredibly awesome, with a drawing of Watson and Murray. :))
* cyberquail's winter holiday card from this year, which mentioned that the mincemeat she sent was made from the recipe in the English Home Holiday Supplement.
* The English Home Holiday Supplement.
* Something from the bank with information about taxes which Eor has already done and I sent out yesterday. (oops. :\)

And then of course some more recent things, like cygny's announcement of Roeland's birth and the post card that I haven't yet sent to lacrimaeveneris.

I need a new photo album/scrap book, the one I have is pretty full, and that's where some of this stuff should go.

The northern short-tailed shrew has toxic venom*! A venom that can kill animals even bigger than itself. And then it eats them. I'm now pulling for keeping the thing around - I bet we won't have other mice if we keep it. :)
