I just realized that I was putting wrong dates on things all over the place, yesterday. My brain was Swiss cheese. (One coworker asked me why I was even there, and I said something along the lines of having to be doing something. But really the answer should have been "I'm actually not here, in my brain.")

Tuesday, when I went on a hike with Hawk, as he was digging the leaves out of a small stream that crossed the trail, I started to tell him about this turkey I almost hit "the other day,"* and then realized that was actually just the day before. It seemed so far in the past. He said time confusion problems are common for people in situations like this.**

*Just as I was braking to pick up someone's garbage can that had rolled into the road, the turkey dashed across in front of me. If I'd still been going full speed I would have hit it, so it seemed like a reward for being a good Samaritan. Which, him being a good Samaritan and digging the leaves out to promote drainage of the trail was what made me think of it.

**A minute later he was telling me about a trail he hiked by himself in Korea where some parts of the trail went down a cliff face and you had to rappel down a rope that was left hanging there. My response was "What if it were rotten!?" Why do I have a crazy brother who does things like this? I mean, sure, delightfully exotic and daring, right? Sometimes I feel like he's practically an action hero, but he's also my little brother and I worry about him.
