This morning Gutenberg released The Pros and Cons of Vivisection by Charles Richet, and only an hour after Eor told me about that I read soda-and-capes mention of Dr. Doom vivisecting Asgardians. Of course the latter bothers me much less, being fictional, but what a horribly gruesome thing to have happen in comics! Because of the coincidence I naturally had to torture my sensibilities by reading some of 'The Pros and Cons of Vivisection,' and I happily found that Richet denounces vivisecting animals which are awake. It might be time for me to go back on the antidepressants. I'm dwelling a LOT on morbidity, and even had a dream a few weeks ago where I killed myself. I was overwhelmingly sad that it was time to do that, but in my dream it was time. And then I recalled, just as I was dying, that I hadn't finished writing "Swept Away," so I tried to leave a note to ask daegaer if she would finish it. It wouldn't be mine, then, but it would probably be much better. :)
But it's not as if I'm actually unhappy in day to day life. A little stressed out because of the stupidity that's going on at work right now,* but feeling pretty good about a lot of things. As I've mentioned, cyberquail's visit was made of awesome, and dinner with littleredhead and groundctrl the other night was complete yay with ice-cream on top. :)
And that was really what I was going to write about, this morning, instead of being all stupidly navel-gazey** - Grountctrl and Littleredhead's house is coming along nicely, and they had us over for dinner on the porch; grilled meat on skewers, sausages oozing cheese and roasted corn, all quite delish. Of course the making of the meal is the company, of which they are the lovliest, and Littleredhead's Dad is pretty great, too. He's actually the inhabitant of the house at the moment, as he's camping out there and doing some carpentry for/with them. And we took them some of the Kraken rum which makes me want to be a pirate; I think they appreciated it as much as we do. ;)
In other random news: Last night we dumped vinegar into the nest of the ground bees which have been terrorizing everyone in the condo. It seemed evil to be killing all those poor creatures and yet also like a daring raid because those bastards sting like a bastard. That was what I needed the toothpaste for the other day, but one of our cocondites*** got stung about five times when he attempted to mow the lawn, and OW, I can only imagine! My whole leg was stiff from the pain from the one sting!

*The only reason I'm still here this time of day is that I'm going in at noon so as to stay 'til 9pm and do a 'class' with some of the overnight people. The thing that's annoying me is that all the information I've been given to base this class on is one page which is NOT very informative and I'm being forced to make up something to say to people for fifteen minutes. Me not being the type of person who can lie, much, I'm telling them the truth - I have not had any training in this, myself, and I'm pissed that I'm being made to talk to them about something I have no clue about. Well, what am I going to fill up fifteen minutes with? And in order to give this fifteen minute class I'm getting home tonight at like 10pm and then having to get up at 5am tomorrow and go in to work.
However, going in at noon today means I didn't have to ask for time off for a doctor's appointment for the tummy aches I've been having.
**I considered being naval-gazey but decided without tall ships it wasn't so much fun.
***ha HA, like that word? ;) I just invented it to mean 'other people who live in the same condominium complex with us' - a considerable savings on characters, eh?
****I need to tear myself away and do some stretching/exercise before I leave for the appointment. I hope I get time to go hang at a coffee shop and write in my paper journal before work.
