In what seemed like a night and a morning of filling his van, Hawk is pretty much moved out. :( Yeah, yeah, I know I asked him to go, I know it's probably for the best and everything, but I can't help but feel sad and wrong and as though we're being typical of the modern style where as soon as things are inconvenient it's time to distance oneself. Probably in a few days I'll start to feel as though it's good to have my house back. And I know that with his van acting up the way it has been it's a lot better for him to live so close to school he can ride his bike.
The Humble Farmer introduced us to Shlomit Auciello, who is working on a book about Old Hippies, and seeks project funding on Kickstarter.
I also bought this hat
from Capestries. It's possibly more square on top than it appears, I think she calls it a short stovepipe shape. I've bought two of her hats before, the stretch velvet berets. I was pretty young when I bought the first one; in fact it was that time I did night security, because I distinctly remember we were entitled to sleep in the cots in a big tent. Most people slept in all their clothes, but I also kept my new beret on to keep my head warm. I lost it years later, canoodling with Eor in an allyway. The woman from Capestries tends toward that stretch velvet or bright colors in busy patterns, but she probably found an old tweed coat on the dump and decided to repurpose it.
(Taking that hat pic at least made me wash the mirror in the bathroom, and since I had a rag and windex in my hand, the windshield of my car, which has been dangerously dirty for driving at night.)
ETA: possibly a better pic of the hat - http://pics.livejournal.com/derien/pic/000d3e13
