Coppperbadge went to see The Midnight Circus and posted a link, and now I've gone and looked at all the photos... I'm not sure my life will be complete until I see this live and in person for myself: http://www.midnightcircus.net/index.html

In other news - I finished reading the third installment of The Sharing Knife (after reading the second in the series over again) and found there's a fourth. Hm. I want to read it because I want to see how things go, but I'm not as interested by Bujold's work in this series as in the Vorkosigan series. It's a little too pat and Mary Sue-ish, though I am interested in her world-building.

Now, a snippet from a letter to Cyberquail, as I feel I should say something about these shows we went out to in the past few days...

Seems we have no swing here, either, as the Portland Jazz Orchestra might do tunes which are known AS swing tunes but, if you can picture this, they remove all the swing. Picture "Take The A Train" done as a ballad. You can't? Wish I couldn't, either. They should really not have been advertised as such. I thought they were alright, really, but not what we'd gone there for.

However, the Battlefield Band, from Scotland, which we went to last night, more than made up for the uninspirational jazz. Those guys were pretty amazing! Nearly every song was irresistible foot-stomping music. :) There was this one guy, well, after we left Eor said he realized he had to get me quickly away from that talented young fiddler 'who looks like Young Sherlock Holmes and has a voice like an angel.' ;) He not only played the fiddle but also the keyboard and bagpipes, and also he was a sharp dresser, with a vest and tie and watch chain, and had a charming shy gawpyness to him. :) In fact they all played several instruments, aside from the guitarist. They are all actually a fairly new lineup, it being one of those organizations which have transferred with good continuity into a full second generation, but this delicious boy is the newest and youngest member.

And now apple crisp, and hopefully a few more pages of Jasper Fforde's "The Last Dragonslayer."
