On a highly inferior social platform I recently posted the following:

Today:
When they took away our incandescent lights because they produce so much heat, did they ever think that maybe we WANTED the heat? Gosh I love our photography lamp! It's a classic 70s style - an orange reflector which never really stayed on, and that crappy old brown power cord. When we got it - almost 20 years ago - it had a 500 watt bulb. That bulb just finally burned out a couple weeks ago. It was doing an awfully good job of keeping me warm while lighting the spaces I needed to clean. It has since been replaced with the highest wattage we could find, 300. Not quite as amazing, but it'll do. ;)

(I did not mention there that the reason I started thinking about this was Eor reading about Aga stoves, and someone said that they produce 'only' about as much heat as 10 or 12 100-watt bulbs. I noted that's a rather decent amount of heat! And then thought "damn I wish I had that photography lamp in here right at the moment." Awfully cold this evening.)

Yesterday:
Washer and dryer are installed and running, thanks to Eor's hard work! :) It's not a first for us to have new washer and dryer, but it's been around 12 years - since we lost the house in New Hampshire. This washer is so quiet it could be in a library. :)

Friday:
Not pleased with Sears at the moment. We ordered a new washer and dryer, and they are in, but when we went to pick them up last night we found that they are 'in' at the warehouse. The website seemed to indicate they were at the store, which closes at 9pm, so we took our time and sauntered on down, arriving at 6:30pm. At which time we were informed that the warehouse is only a half-mile away, but closes at 6pm. Which means this afternoon I'll have to drive the van over to Freeport and pick Eor up at work so that we can get down to Portland and back to New Gloucester, unload the washer and dryer, and get BACK in the car in time to head to the function we wish to attend this evening. I don't like driving the van; it's a behemoth. But at least the weather is good.

(The part I did not say, here, was that the thing we were going to attend was my cousin's husband's surprise birthday party - didn't want him to happen to see my post, not that I think he frequents FB. Nice party, nice people.)
