Once again I have found myself convinced that our HR Specialist is actually doing some other job, because she doesn't know HR for shit. I waited a few days for a packet of information which was supposed to tell me how to apply for leave to go help our Hawk and his Mate, and when she gave it to me she gave me old, outdated stuff, and didn't know how it was supposed to work. "Oh, you don't want FMLA, not for a brother. That doesn't apply to siblings. You want... FFLA or something like that. I can never remember what it's called, but look it up."
It's hard to look up something when you don't know the name of it. Took me a full eight hours of my time at least, but I found it. It's called Sick Leave for Seriously Ill Family Members, and it uses the same forms as FMLA. The information she'd given me was out of date, saying I needed to keep an 80 hour minimum balance on my Sick Leave, but I downloaded the current Human Resources Handbook from our internal site with the new info, which says I do NOT need to keep any minimum balance of Sick Leave.
Seriously, it took me a long time because I SUCK at research, but it took me less time than waiting for her and I'm convinced I HAVE the correct information, so what the fuck use is she?
