I'm home. :) Thank you, everyone, for all your positive thoughts and good wishes. I was unsure right up to getting wheeled in if I were making the right choice, but after, when Eor told me what the doctor had found, I was glad I had done it. This morning when I saw her she went over it again: my uterus was much larger than it should have been according to what the ultrasound had shown, all fibroids, and she had to take both ovaries because everything was so covered with endometrial stuff. "And all you complained of was a little pain down on the left, there? I'm surprised you weren't in a lot more pain. You're tough." I do not think of myself as tough, believe me.
I'm really glad I stayed in the hospital last night, though - it gave me a certain peace of mind, having people who knew what they were doing only a button-push away. Didn't really sleep, or course, more just dozed, so I'm a bit out of it, now. And I should say, for a hospital they're really sketchy on what gluten free means. If you really feel you should eat gluten free, consider taking your own snacks to the hospital. The nurse who said she would get me something just as the caf was closing, well, she tried, but all she could scrape together was fresh fruits and veggies. How to turn me into an itchy, gassy mess. Thankfully, Eor had gone out for chicken fried rice at Vientian Market (which used to be one of our favorite places to do when we lived in Portland) and, in a huge act of selfless willpower, saved me some. And they must make stuff fresh there, because even after sitting for five hours it was delish.
He was surprised at how much I was able to eat last night, but I'd been fasting for a full day by that point. This morning I wasn't able to fit much breakfast in. Oh, wait, I did have a yogurt at 6am and THEN two eggs, bacon and homefries at 8am. I suppose I should not be so surprised that I was unable to finish the homefries. It still seems like a light meal for me. :) And I came home and made myself some veggie soup, and ate three bowls of that, so I am keeping myself healthily fed.
I feel surprisingly well, considering, although it's near impossible to pick something up off the floor. There is pain, but I also think it's mainly because my stomach is still inflated. Literally, I think, because they blew it up in order to do the laproscopy. My shoulder started to ache pretty bad over last night and this morning, and when I mentioned it to the nurse (thinking it was something left over from hauling wood on Sunday) she said "Your right shoulder? Let's put some heat on it. That always happens after these surgeries; it's displaced gas from inflating your belly."
