Reading "Constant Rabbit" by Jasper Fforde, and thus far (only a few chapters in) not disappointed. He isn't even pretending it's not about racism. In typical Fforde fashion, there was an unexplained Anthropomorphizing Event which transformed a few rabbits into human-style creatures (scaling them up to Harvey-size). One description says they're shaped like Beatrix Potter-style rabbits, but another picture shows a very Buggs Bunny-style. So now there's three general divisions of rabbit - Wildstock (with mostly variations on brown and white shading), Petstock (distinctive black and white markings) and Labstock (who are all white with pink eyes, and extremely hard for humans to tell apart.) To be fair, most rabbits can't tell humans apart, either. The main character is a human who has a knack for identifying rabbits, so has a job with a government agency, the goals of which are completely opposite his natural sympathies. Typical of Fforde, this agency is pretty reprehensible, and an awful place to work.
