And we spent most of it indoors, trying to organize our new phones. We're mightily pissed off regarding being forced into new phones. Our old ones were working just fine for us, thank you very much, and now 5G comes along and we won't be able to use them anymore, even though as devices there's nothing wrong with them. So last weekend I spent hours on the phone getting the old ones turned back on after Tracfone turned them off early. We had been told they would work until Feb 22. Thank goodness we still have a landline, I'm not sure what I would have done if we'd gone completely dependent on the cellphones, as so many of my coworkers have done.

Of course he wouldn't turn them back on until he had at least got us down for one of the replacement phones. I took a free one, which means it's probably no longer supported by the company which made it (LG). Eor bought one, but just about the cheapest he could find (Samsung) so probably also at end of life. Today was figuring out how to pull the contacts over, and installing all the same apps - because don't even talk to me about cloning apps or cloud backups. Not going to do any cloud backups, don't want all our contacts sold to the highest bidder. And of clone apps I have heard so much evil. The one LG made has reportedly bricked people's phones, so it's kind of good we couldn't get it to work at all.

I'll be surprised if we get two years out of these craptastic phones, then we'll have to do this all over again. It's just too ridiculous.

Well, before the sun went down we took a break and went out for a tramp through the snow. Sprinkled sunflower seeds down around the bottom edge of the property, so we can watch the crows and ravens pick them up. Postholed all the way in the soft, melting snow, halfway up our shins, Eor in his sneakers which got soaked. Truly glorious to just be outside in such an unseasonably warm day. And then we worked on siding for an hour and a half and then had a video call with friends, and that was our day, pretty much.

No news yet about any kind of service or get-together in honor of Eor's sister. Her husband might just be too down to deal.

(ETA: Just realized I did not even post links to Eor's posts about his oldest sister's death. I have just made two retroposts on Feb 1st and 2nd to rectify my oversight.)
