I didn't have near as interesting a weekend as [livejournal.com profile] daegaer, but it went by amazingly quickly and we ended up feeling less rested (especially [livejournal.com profile] eor) than when we began. And it's not like it was interesting things we were doing, just the normal stuff one has to do on the weekend when one hasn't got a person at home all the time anymore. Grocery and clothes shopping, laundry, cleaning, household repairs, cooking.

[livejournal.com profile] eor did an amazing job rebuilding the framework under the bed. It had to be done because the damn thing had finally fallen apart to the point where we would have had to move into our guest room, and we have a guest arriving tomorrow so we couldn't do that. We've had the bed for a number of years and the framework sucked when we got it and has gotten steadily worse. After a couple of trips to hardware stores, yesterday, he was ready to start, and he pulled a marathon building session - 3PM to around 8PM, I think it was - cutting the metal bars with a dremel tool and fitting the whole thing together.

Meanwhile I cooked chickpeas with tamarind, a project which took around 3 hours (had to do it, though, because the chickpeas had already been soaked overnight, so the needed to be cooked). Then when we realized that wasn't going to stand as a dish on it's own (although we have enough to feed an army) I also cooked a chicken curry. So now I have 5 little bowls of chickpea stuff in the freezer, and I just ate one for breakfast. It's actually damn good.:)
