Mainertoo's birthday party - awesome time. Awesome band. They're friends of his and have been playing together in the garage for a while, so don't have a name yet. They just do covers, but of a variety of stuff - Beatles, Jimi Hendrix (one of my co-workers who plays guitar said he'd never heard another live band cover "Crosstown Traffic" - he seems to think it's pretty unusual for people to tackle), Grateful Dead (by request, they pulled "Friend of the Devil" out their asses, and screwed up some of the words, but still made it sound pretty good), Aerosmith - I'm not even sure what else.
People started leaving before Saxman showed up - I went over to say hi to him at the bar as he's picking up his drink and the band started into "Black Magic Woman." He went, "Oh, I could have played on this one! I've got my sax out in the car." So I was all, "Go get it!" and he did. Walked in on the end of the song and did a little solo - they totally didn't expect him, didn't know him from Adam's off ox, but it sounded pretty good. An Awesome moment. :)
