...for a little while. I didn't really get to be out in it a lot.
Things I'm a tad annoyed about:
The City of Portland's Tree Cutting Commandos took down one on our street the day after that last Nor'easter. Apparently all the rain we've been having softened the ground too much, and the wind damaged it, but there's no way to know because nobody saw it before the City took it down - they were going off with the last truckload of branches as I was going out to get into my car to head to work on ... Tuesday, was that? Anyhow, I didn't mention it before because I wanted to speak with the neighbor who's tree it was. He said he never knew a thing about it - he was away and came back and it was gone. They didn't bother to contact him at all. That, I think, is really rather rude. He and his wife think the tree outside of our place is probably the next to go - it's much larger and has been leaning a bit more all the time. (
eor says it if falls on our car he won't be distressed, he'll just collect the insurance and get another Metro. ;))
The worst paint job ever. In our hallway. I know I've probably mentioned it before, but it's really really horrible and deserves griping. If the management company sues the painters for several hundred dollars they might get their money's worth, but I sure hope they don't intend to pay these people. Not only are the runner carpet and the floor ruined, but the paint is horribly tacky (in feel as well as look) even days later, and yet is already chipping off.
(eta: I meant to mention - the downstairs neighbor gave me a sort of "I know you're too much of a wuss to call" smile and said she would call and complain about the bad paint job. :))
It appears the van will need a new transmission, and if we're going to do that we might as well do a new engine, too, since it won't be much longer before it really needs that, and we should really convert from four-speed to five-speed if we're going to change the engine. This will be a chunk of change. However, I'm not feeling as upset about it as
eor is.
But given all that annoyance, I'm actually feeling quite happy. I don't know why, because my list of happy things is much shorter.
Things I'm happy about:
I actually was very happy to see sun! I didn't think I would be, because I do like rain so much, but it's nice for a change. :)
Eor's made improvements on his txt to html converter, so I'm all excited to get back to working on the Daegaer Rules The Net site!
Blueberry coffee. Yes, it's that good.
